Encouraging month for the Croatian new car market: up 11% year-on-year in June to 4.725 registrations, lifting the year-to-date total back into positive territory at +2% to 21.575 units. Volkswagen (16.7% share) and Opel (12.5%) continue to dominate the brands ranking ahead of Renault particularly strong at 12.4% vs. 8% year-to-date. This is due to an explosive performance from the Clio, shooting up to the models pole position for the first time since the creation of BSCB in 2010 with an astounding 496 sales and 10.5% share. Ford is also very strong at 10.1% share vs. 5.6% so far in 2015, as is Kia at #5 and 8.7% vs. 5.3% and Suzuki at #10.
The Opel Astra is now #1 year-to-date in Croatia.
There is a second momentous shift in the Croatian models ranking this month: building on an exceptional result in May (8.3% share), the Opel Astra goes on to rank #2 with 6.1% of the market this month and this is enough to earn it the year-to-date top spot with 1.238 sales and 5.7% share, overtaking the VW Golf, #4 this month, at 1.202 and 5.6%. This comes just as the new generation Astra was unveiled to the press. The last time the Opel Astra was #1 in an annual Croatian ranking was in 2012. Notice also the Ford Focus up to #5, Ford Fiesta up to #6, Kia Rio up to #7, Toyota Yaris up to #13 and Seat Leon up to #15.
