Taiwan May 2015: Nissan X-Trail lands 47 units off 2nd place

The Taiwanese new car market recedes by 6% year-on-year in May to 34.478 registrations, however the year-to-date total is still in positive at +3% and 175.079 units. Toyota remains sovereign in the brands ranking at 9.743 deliveries and 28.3% share, distancing Nissan at 11.1% and Mitsubishi at 10.5%. Honda is solid at #6 and 6.1% share, Ford is back above Mercedes and BMW, Mazda shines again at #8 and local manufacturer Luxgen is back inside the Top 10 at #9 with 1.104 sales and 3.2% share. The Toyota Corolla tops the model sales charts as usual with 8.9% share, more than double any other nameplate in the country. The big event this month is the landing of the Nissan X-Trail directly in 4th place with 1.343 sales and 3.9% share, only 47 units off a #2 ranking: the Toyota Yaris sells 1.390 units at #2 and the Wish sells 1.372 at #3. Notice also Luxgen U6 Turbo back up 4 spots on April to #11 and the Porsche Cayenne back up to #37 above the Macan at #40.
