Malaysia May 2015: Proton back up to #2, Mercedes up two-fold

The Malaysian new car market continues to put on the brakes at -8% year-on-year in May to 51.254 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 264.747 units, down 4% on 2014. The Top 4 brands return to their order of FY2014 with Perodua in the lead by far at 33.7% share thanks to sales up 7% on May 2014, Proton back up to #2 at 16.2% but down 17%, Toyota rounding up the podium at 14.7% (-7%) and Honda down to 4th place at 12.1% (-16%). Nissan bucks the market with deliveries up 5%, while Mercedes more than doubles its sales year-on-year to a stunning 7th place overall with 1.148 units sold and 2.2% share. Further down, notice also Subaru up 99%, Lexus up 37%, Mini up 19%, Porsche up 189% and Renault up 457%.
