Uruguay April 2015: Suzuki and Volkswagen on top

New car sales in Uruguay are down 3% year-on-year in April to 4.142 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 16.937 registrations, a 1% drop on a record total at the same time last year. Suzuki is not looking back and cements its newfound leadership of the market with another 579 sales and 14% market share, placing the Japanese manufacturer above Volkswagen (11.9%) and Chevrolet (9.8%) with Nissan (6.7%) and Renault (6.5%) rounding up the Top 5. Chery leads Chinese manufacturers at #7 and 5% above BYD (4.8%), Lifan (2.5%), Geely (2.2%), FAW (1.7%), Chana (1.3%) and Dongfeng (1.2%). All-in-all, Chinese carmakers represent 21.1% of the Uruguayan new car market in April vs. 20.6% so far in 2015.
