The Bulgarian new car market is up 3% year-on-year in April to an estimated 2.460 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 8.949 units, up 7% on 2014. As a reminder Bulgarian sales data is always to be taken with a pinch of salt as a large portion of new car sales in the country never make it to local roads but are re-exported elsewhere in the EU. See here for more on this phenomenon. In this context, Dacia maintains its stranglehold on Bulgarian sales with a very strong 15.8% market share this month (12.8% year-to-date) above Renault (11.7%) and Skoda (8.3%), replicating the 2015 year-to-date podium. Volkswagen, Toyota and Ford follow. Model-wise, this month the Renault Group monopolises the Top 4 with the Dacia Dokker at its traditional pole position (6.5% share) followed by the Renault Clio, Captur and Dacia Sandero.
