Venezuela February 2015: Mitsubishi Lancer & Toyota Corolla survive

The new generation Corolla hasn’t reached Venezuelan shores yet.

Granted, the Venezuelan new car market is up a seemingly impressive 60% year-on-year in February, but this was an extremely low base and at just 1,304 registrations, new car sales in the country are down 84% on February 2013 which is a more realistic benchmark. Only 3 manufacturers manage to sell over 100 units this month: Mitsubishi (552), Toyota (493) and Chevrolet (114) with the Mitsubishi Lancer (225) and Toyota Corolla (213), both previous generations no longer available in the vast majority of worldwide markets, the only nameplates above 200 deliveries. The nightmare continues for Venezuela.
