The Argentinean new car market is showing no sign of recovery: down another 28% year-on-year in February to 41,998 registrations, which brings the year-to-date total to 107,548 units, down 35% on 2014. Volkswagen (-23%), Ford (-19%) and Chevrolet (-8%) top the brands ranking, all managing to lose less ground than the market despite pretty heavy falls. It’s another story for Peugeot (-32%), Fiat (-38%), Citroen (-45%) and Renault (-52%)… Some rare brands do manage to improve year-on-year in February: among them Kia (+118%), Chery (+101%), Hyundai (+90%), Nissan (+67%) and Audi (+43%).

The VW Gol Trend holds onto the pole position it held over the FY2014 and in January thanks to 1,841 sales and 4.4%, exactly one percentage point above the next-best-seller, the Ford Ecosport up two spots on January to #2 and 1,427 units. The Ford Fiesta Kinetic is also up two ranks to #3 while the Toyota Hilux is down one to #4 but now ranks #2 year-to-date like it did in 2014. The Renault Clio Mio is back up 8 spots to #7 but #13 year-to-date vs. #3 in 2014, the VW Fox is up 13 to #20, the VW Vento up 29 to #27, the new generation VW Golf lands directly at #35 and the Chery Tiggo is up one further spot to a record #41.
