United Arab Emirates August 2014: Toyota Prado back in charge

New car saes in the United Arab Emirates are up 7% year-on-year in August to 33,227 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 266,257 units, up 12% on 2013. Down to 5th position in July, the Toyota Prado is back in charge of the UAE models sales charts in August thanks to 1.640 sales and 4.9% share, however this is not enough to dislodge the Toyota Hilux from its year-to-date pedestal at 13,861 units and 5.2% vs. 12.483 and 4.7% for the Prado. Although composed of the same vehicles as year-to-date, the UAE August Top 5 gets a complete reshuffle: the Toyota Land Cruiser is up one spot to #2, the Nissan Patrol down one to #3, still ahead of its year-to-date 4th place, and the Toyota Corolla remains #4 above the Hilux.

The Range Rover is among the 20 most successful models in the UAE this month.

The Toyota Yaris is boosted by the new model to 3.6% share vs. 3% year-to-date but stays in 6th place, while the Mitsubishi Lancer EX is up to #8, the Hyundai Elantra up to #14 vs. #23 YTD, the Toyota Coaster up to #15 vs. #33, the Range Rover breaks into the Top 20 at #20 with 370 sales and 1.1% share of the market vs. #35 YTD, the BMW X6 is up 10 spots on July to #21, the Nissan Pathfinder up to #22 vs. #30 YTD, the Toyota RAV4 up to #26 vs. #38 and the Chevrolet Tahoe up to #48 vs. #75.
