The Bulgarian new car market is up 3% year-on-year in September to an estimated 2,050 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 19,258 units, up 8% on 2013. One thing to remember is that sales data for Bulgaria is skewed by re-exports to other European Union countries, with a large portion of new car sales in the country never making it to local roads – as much as 30% – thanks to Bulgaria displaying some of the lowest car prices in the EU. See here for more on this phenomenon. Dacia cements its domination in the country and shoots up to a magnificent 16.7% market share this month thanks to 342 sales, adding up to 2,351 and 12.2% year-to-date. It places the Dokker (6.4%) and Duster (4.8%) atop the models ranking. Skoda (9.7%), Ford (9%), Toyota (8%) and Volkswagen (7.7%) follow. The Ford Mondeo jumps to #5 while the Opel Astra is up to #7, Renault Master up to #8 and Great Wall Stead up to #14.
