Taiwan July 2014: Toyota Vios now clear #2 below Corolla

The Toyota Vios breaks its volume and market share records in Taiwan this month.

New car sales in Taiwan are up a very healthy 13% year-on-year in July to 45,143 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 255,827 units, up an equally satisfying 15% on 2013. Toyota maintains its stranglehold over the Taiwanese brands ranking: one in every 3 new cars registered in the country in July is a Toyota with the Japanese manufacturer clocking up 15,255 sales for an exceptional 33.8% share vs. 29.8% year-to-date. Mazda makes a very rare appearance inside the Top 10 at #6 with 1,720 sales and 3.8% just above local carmaker Luxgen at 1,710 units. Model-wise, below the Toyota Corolla unattainable at 11.2% share, the Toyota Vios is now comfortably installed in 2nd position with a record 2,795 sales and 6.2% this month. Notice also the Toyota Camry up 4 spots on June to #6, the Nissan Livina up to #10 vs. #14 year-to-date, the Ford Fiesta up a further 6 ranks to #29 and the Honda City landing at #37, its very first appearance within Taiwan’s Top 40 best-sellers.
