Shock, horror: for the first time in years, the Danish new car market is down year-on-year, granted by a tiny 0.4% to 14,267 registrations in July. Rest assured the year-to-date tally is still very much in positive territory at a record 113,067 units, up 6% on 2013. Denmark is the land of minicars, so it’s with hardly contained excitement that we are now witnessing the new generation Kolin triplets (because produced there) claw their way back up the sales charts: below an unassailable VW Up leader for the 24th month in a row (yep – exactly two years!), the Toyota Aygo shoots up 24 spots on June to a splendid 2nd place with 463 sales and 3.2%.
The Peugeot 108 is now among Denmark’s 20 most popular vehicles.
The Citroen C1 for its part is up 13 ranks to reclaim a spot inside the Top 10 at #9 with 347 units and 2.4% and the Peugeot 108 breaks into the Top 20 for its first full month of sales in the country at #20 and 232 units for a 1.6% market share. That’s 1,042 sales and 7.1% share for the Kolin triplets vs. 1,208 and 8.5% for the Bratislava crew (Up/Citigo/Mii)… But wait there’s more movement in Denmark this month: the Peugeot 308 is up a massive 16 ranks on June to round up the podium at #3 with 448 sales and 3.1%, the Kia Rio is up to #8, the VW Polo up to 20 and the Citroen C4 Cactus stuck at #69.
