The UK new car market continues on its irresistible run: up another 6% year-on-year in June to 228,291 registrations. This marks 28 consecutive months of year-on-year gain, the longest growth period ever in the UK. The year-to-date total is up 11% on 2013 halfway through the year at 1,287,265 units, the best 1st half total since 2005. The UK market is on track to achieve 2.4 million units over the Full Year 2014, which would here too be the best result since 2005. Brand-wise, the best performers atop the ranking are Vauxhall (+14%), Nissan (+28%), Mercedes (+17%), Fiat (+13%), Renault (+51%), Seat (+15%) and Volvo (+25%).
Renault sales are up 51% year-on-year in the UK in June, partly thanks to the Captur
The models ranking is relatively stable this month with the Ford Fiesta in charge once again in spite of sales down 1% to 11,213 units and 4.9% share, as interestingly the only vehicle in the Top 5 to gain ground year-on-year is the VW Golf up 11% to #4. The Vauxhall Corsa is down 10% at #2, the Ford Focus down 19% at #3 and the Vauxhall Astra down 12% at #5. Reversely the Nissan Qashqai is up 19% to #6, the Vauxhall Insignia is brilliantly back inside the Top 10 at #7, its best monthly ranking since last December, the Fiat 500 is up to #8 and the Audi A3 takes advantage of a very feeble month from the VW Polo to ascend to #7 year-to-date.
