New Zealand March 2014: Ford Ranger #1, now above Hilux YTD

New Zealand continues to perform at levels not seen in decades: March 2014 is the best since 1994 at 11,238 registrations, up 18% year-on-year and bringing the First Quarter total to 30,824 units, up 15% on 2013. Commercial vehicles are up 20% in March and 19% year-to-date. In the brands ranking, Toyota (16%), Ford (10.7%) and Holden (8.5%) reign supreme as usual, but Mitsubishi is catching up, up 3 spots on February to #4 and 7.8% share, passing Hyundai, Mazda and Nissan.
The Mitsubishi Outlander is up to #7 this month in New Zealand.
Model-wise, the Ford Ranger becomes the most popular vehicle in the country this month and for the 5th time in the last 12 months thanks to 550 sales and 4.9% and for the first time ever, it is now ahead of its archenemy the Toyota Hilux in a New Zealand year-to-date ranking at 1,175 units (#2) vs. 1,126 (#3) with the Toyota Corolla keeping the lead so far in 2014 at 1,441 sales. Notice also the Suzuki Swift back up two spots on February to #4, the Holden Commodore up one to #6, the Mitsubishi Outlander up 15 to #7, Mazda3 up 3 to #8 and Hyundai i30 up 10 to #14.
