Israel March 2014: Corolla #1, Focus back on podium

Euphoric times for the Israeli new car market: up 34% year-on-year in March to 23,924 registrations, bringing the first Quarter total to 72,392 units, up 26% on 2013. In the brands ranking, Hyundai reigns supreme with 3,618 sales and 15.1% share, well above its year-to-date level of 12.8%. It is followed by Toyota at 11.3%, Kia at 10.2%, Mazda at 6.6% and Skoda at 5.9%. Notice Ford at #7 vs. #10 year-to-date and Fiat at #13 vs. #18. Model-wise, the Toyota Corolla celebrates 8 consecutive months in pole position thanks to 1,380 sales and 5.8% ahead of the 2013 leader the Kia Picanto at 1,087 units and 4.5%.

Frank leader over the Full Year 2012, the Ford Focus had been wobbly of late in Israel (down to #68 in December!). Not anymore, in March it climbs back onto the podium for the first time since last July at #3 with 973 sales and 4.1%, and could fight with the Corolla and Mazda3 (down to #4 this month) for the 2014 pole position. The Suzuki SX4 is back up one rank to a fantastic 5th place, the Hyundai ix35 is up a huge 20 spots to #7, the Skoda Octavia is solid at #9, the Hyundai i10 up 10 to #13 and the Fiat 500 up 21 to #17. Notice also the Peugeot 2008 at #80 and the arrival of two newcomers in the ranking: the Maserati Ghibli at #180 with 7 units sold and the VW Up at #211 with two sales.
