Europe (brands) February 2014: Renault and Peugeot on podium

New car sales in Europe (EU+EFTA countries) are up a very healthy 8% year-on-year in February to 894,790 registrations, the 6th consecutive month of year-on-year gain and bringing the 2014 year-to-date total after two months to 1,862,597 units, up 6% on 2013. All major markets are up except France, which is paradoxical as two French manufacturers deliver some of the best performances in the Top 10 this month. Below Volkswagen unattainable at 106,723 sales and 11.9% share (-1%), Renault is up two spots on January and its FY2013 ranking to land in 2nd place with 60,682 units and 6.8% (+4%) while Peugeot remains third at 59,661 sales and 6.7% (+7%), also two ranks above its 2013 level.
Dacia Lodgy. Dacia delivers the biggest year-on-year gain this month at +34%.
Below, Ford and Opel/Vauxhall progress faster year-on-year (+11% and +16% respectively) but remain below their 2013 rankings #4 and #5 vs. #2 and #3 respectively. Audi is in great shape, up 12% to 6th place with 48,589 sales and 5.4% share, as are Skoda (+21%), Toyota (+14%), Dacia (+34%), Seat (+16%), Suzuki (+31%), Mazda (+22%) and Mitsubishi (+19%).
