Hong Kong (China) January 2014: Mercedes S-Class up to #3!

The Hong Kong new car market is up by a very healthy 9% year-on-year in January to 4,121 registrations. And as is the tradition, we have a very volatile models ranking this month, apart from the Toyota Hiace remaining the most popular vehicle with 271 sales and 6.6%. An end of (Chinese) year batch puts the emblematic Toyota Crown Taxi up to #2 at 244 units and 5.9%, while the all-new Mercedes S-Class shoots up to an unbelievable third place thanks to 161 sales and 3.9% share, including 119 Hybrid models.
The A-Class makes it two Mercedes inside the Top 4 this month at #4 and 3.7%. Other great performers this month include the Kia Morning up to #8 vs. #45 over FY2013, the Audi A5 up to #10 vs. #26, the Audi A4 up 43 spots on December to #17 and the Mercedes CLA up 45 to #24. Brand-wise, Toyota dominates once again with 939 sales and 22.8%, ahead of Mercedes at 13.8%, Isuzu at 10.1% and Volkswagen at 6.1%. Notice also Hino up to #8, Kia up to #11, UD Trucks up to #20 and Jeep landing at #32 with 4 units sold.
