New car sales in Scotland are up 13% year-on-year in 2013 to 204,592 registrations, and the best-seller has now been unchanged for the last 6 years now: it’s the Vauxhall Corsa, but it was a very close call this year… Corsa sales are down 6% on 2012 to 10,996 units and 5.4% share vs. 6.5% in 2012, that’s less than 100 sales above the Ford Fiesta, up 7% to 10,897 units. It will be a hard crown to defend in 2014.
The Ford Focus is up one spot to #3, passing the Vauxhall Astra at #4, while the VW Golf breaks into the Top 5 at #5. #11 in the UK overall, the Fiat 500 is up to a brilliant 8th place in Scotland thanks to 3,869 sales and 1.9% share and the Renault Clio is weirdly down from #5 in 2012 to #9 this year in spite of the arrival of the new generation. But the big question for 2014 is whether the Vauxhall Mokka (#4 in December) and the Dacia Sandero (#5 that same month) will earn a spot in the year-end Top 10…
