New Zealand Full Year 2013: Toyota Corolla marks 6 years at #1 in strongest market since 1984

The New Zealand new car market is up a splendid 12% year-on-year in 2013 to 113,117 registrations, the strongest annual result in almost 30 years (since 1984), boosted by the highest December figure since 1976. Toyota claims the brand crown for the 26th consecutive year with 24,262 sales and 21.4% including Lexus, ahead of Ford (11.4%) and Holden (10.4%). Model-wise, the Toyota Corolla is the best-selling vehicle in the country for the 6th year in a row thanks to sales up 13% to 5,995.

It is followed by the Toyota Hilux up 21% to 5,041 units, celebrating its 32nd consecutive year leading commercial vehicle sales, but the battle was fierce with the Ford Ranger which climbs onto the Kiwi podium for the very first time thanks to sales up a fantastic 75% on 2012 to 4,924. The Suzuki Swift is down one spot to #4 and 2.6%, the Holden Commodore up two to #5 and the Toyota RAV4 up a massive 11 ranks and 73% to #6 and 2,739 sales thanks to the new generation.
