As the country is slowly recovering from typhoon Haiyan, we now have access to October car sales data by brand. Models figures will follow in about 3 weeks. No doubt the typhoon will affect sales figures in November, but for now the Filipino car market is still frankly into record territory, with October sales up an impressive 15% year-on-year to 19,182 registrations (temporary figures), bringing the year-to-date total to 172,621 units, up 19% on 2012. Thanks to the success of the new generation Vios, Toyota sells 7,422 units this month, that’s 38.7% of the market, well above its year-to-date level of 35.2%. Mitsubishi is back above 20% share at 20.5% while Ford maintains itself at a splendid 4th place thanks to 1,286 sales, Isuzu is up to #5 thanks to the new D-Max and Chevrolet is up to #7 vs. #10 year-to-date.
