Another very impressive month for new car sales in New Zealand: up 14% on October 2012 (which was already up 33% on 2011!) to 10,696 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 94,060 units, up 11% on 2012. Commercial vehicles are up a huge 33% to 2,734, the highest October on record, while passenger cars are up 8% to 7,962. Boosted by rentals ahead of Summer, the Toyota Corolla remains #1 with 963 sales and 9% share, adding up to 4,657 and 5% year-to-date: it looks set to enjoy a 6th consecutive year atop the New Zealand sales charts in 2013.

The Ford Ranger beats the Toyota Hilux again at 478 units and 4.5% vs. 396 and 3.7% but remains below the Japanese ute year-to-date with 3,870 sales and 4.1% vs. 3,998 and 4.3%. Excellent showing of the Holden Commodore up 13 spots on September to #4 and the Ford Mondeo up 8 to #8. In the brands ranking, notice Chery breaking into the Top 20 at #19 equal with Jeep with 104 sales and 1% share vs. 0.4% year-to-date.
