New Caledonia (France) October 2013: Mitsubishi Sportero almost in Top 10

After a two month-hiatus, new car sales data for New Caledonia, an overseas French territory located North-East of Australia, is back on BSCB thanks to Stephane! Note October data is a little flawed by a blip in the registration system that affected a dozen days. It all will be back to normal in November. Over the first 10 months of the year, 8,356 new vehicle found a buyer in the region, down 11% on 2012. The Ford Ranger is by far the most popular model this year as it was in 2012 thanks to 706 sales and 8.4% share. It is followed by the Toyota Hilux at 506 units and 6.1% and the Dacia Duster with 419 sales and 5%.

Further down, the Ford Fiesta is up to #5 vs. #7 in 2012, the Isuzu D-Max remains #6 vs. #38 in 2012, but the most impressive progression in the year-to-date ranking is delivered by the Mitsubishi Sportero, outside the Top 50 at end-July but now #11 with 124 sales and 1.5% share. It ranked #19 over the Full Year 2012. Notice also the Dacia Sandero up to #23 vs. #44 in 2012, the Peugeot 208 up to #28 vs. 81, Peugeot 301 up to #33, Subaru Forester up to #34 vs. #57, the Peugeot 207 surprisingly up from #62 in 2012 to #38 this year, the Dacia Lodgy up to #51 and the Citroen C-Elysee up to #55.

Dongfeng Utah

One of the particularities of the New Caledonian car market is the presence of Chinese vehicles, whereas they cannot be sold in Metropolitan France due to stricter security and anti-pollution legislation. However their popularity is declining. The Dongfeng Utah leads the Chinese offensive at #25 (vs. #15 over the Full Year 2012), followed by the Great Wall Wingle at #32 vs. #13, the Great Wall Voleex C20R new at #48, Great Wall Hover H5 at #60 vs. #39 and the Great Wall Florid at #61 vs. #40.
