New Zealand September 2013: Toyota Corolla reclaims #1 spot in record market

The New Zealand new car market is once again euphoric in September: up 16% year-on-year to 10,070 registrations. This is split into 2,799 light commercial vehicles, up a huge 36% on September 2012 and the largest September figure since records began in 1981, and 7,272 passenger cars, up 6%. The year-to-date total stands at 83,364 units, up 11% on 2012 which was already up 20% on 2011… With the summer holidays now approaching and rental companies starting to renew their stock, the Toyota Corolla is back in pole position for the first time since last March with 5.8% share, enabling it to reclaim the top spot year-to-date also. It is followed by the Ford Ranger once again beating the Toyota Hilux at 4.2% vs. 4% the Toyota RAV4 lodging a fantastic 4th place at 3.6% share and the Holden Colorado up 9 spots on August to #5. Notice also the Hyundai ix35 up 10 ranks to #11 and the Holden Commodore down 11 to #17.
