New car sales in Venezuela are down a painful 21% year-on-year in July to 8,686 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 65,966 units, down a harsh 16% on 2012. Passed by the Mitsubishi Lancer last month, the Chevrolet Aveo reclaims its traditional #1 spot in July thanks to a huge 1,450 sales and 16.7% share, its highest in over one year. The Aveo is by far the most popular vehicle in the country so far in 2013 at 7,167 units and 10.9% vs. 4,687 and 7.1% for the Mitsubishi Lancer, down to #2 this month but still extremely robust at 8.7% share. The Chevrolet Cruze is up 12 spots to brilliantly round up the July podium with 520 sales and 6%.
The Toyota Corolla is also in great shape, up 4 ranks to #4, but the performer of the month is the Chevrolet Orlando, also up 4 spots on June to break its ranking and market share records in Venezuela at #5 with 427 units and 4.9%. Excellent showing also of the Chevrolet C3500 up 18 ranks to #7, the Dodge Forza (a rebadged Fiat Siena) at #12, the VW Fox at #14 and Nissan Frontier at #23. Finally, notice the Dongfeng S30 down 8 spots to #21 but still #3 year-to-date with 3,307 sales and 5%.
