France: BestSellingCarsBlog in L’Automobile Magazine!

Algeria sales on L'Automobile Magazine August 2013

In its August issue, French car magazine L’Automobile Magazine quoted BestSellingCarsBlog as its source in an article about new car sales in Algeria and Tunisia relating the ‘Rallye des Medias’ between Alger and Djerba. Many thanks to Alexandra Legendre for thinking of BSCB when crucial sales figures were needed 🙂 Note the Algerian data was based on the January-April period when the Dacia Logan was still #1, a position that has since gone to the Peugeot 301

In my opinion Dacia are actually also good cars, the Logan II and Duster are good and nice cars but obviusly the C-Elysee/301 are more expensive because they’re based on the 207 platform, that is newer than the Clio II platform.

I fully agree with you, the 404 and 504 (and also the 505) are very common in Africa and Euromed region, Peugeot has a lot of tradition in this area of the Earth so the 301 is a great car for replace those old Peugeots, some of them with over 1 million km!

    Peugeot, Great cars!

    Cheers!

The Dacia Logan/Sandero I is based on Clio II just like the old Symbol, so a Symbol and a Logan are basicaly the same car with a different design.
I live in Portugal and here the C-Elysee is a huge sucess mostly in Taxis fleets. As well as the new Sandero and the new Skoda Rapid. A 20 years ago 90% of the Taxis were Mercedes, nowdays 70%-80% of the new Taxis are low cost cars such as Dacias, Skodas, C-Elysee, etc..
PSA took too much time to understand the potencial of low cost cars in Europe (like Renault has done with Dacia since 2005) and to launch a low cost car like the 301/C-Elysee, but now they’re on track in Europe and Euromed region in countries such as Algeria, Egypt, Tunisia or Israel.
    Cheers.

Oh Yes too much time. But 301/C-Elysee seemed to be real good cars. They exist only with diesel 92ch or VTI 72 I think.

I hope PSA will quickly release a 301 wagon and a pick up. In Tunisia, 404 pick up are so numerous, they’ve 40 years old ! There are some 504 pick up too. Peugeot-Citroen should have all this range of 301.

I confirm that the Logan and Symbol are both being sold in Algeria (i’m Algerian and i live in Algeria)

    1. Merci thebigone! Glad to have some info from someone in Algeria. I can’t explain why the Logan has been out of the Top 10 for the last few months then???
      Cheers,
      Matt

Actually both Dacia Logan and Renault Symbol are sold in Algeria, the Dacia being a little bit cheaper (less options) and are both cheaper than the PSA duo.

  6. Ah, L’Automobile…Sweet teenage memories, i used to convince my parents to buy me that magazine, “So i can practice french and improve my grades” 😀

Truth is, i owe much of my french fluency to those magazines, so it was money well spent. 😉

    Bonjour Laurent,

  8. Even if Peugeot 301 can be defined as a low-cost model, it’s more expensive than Dacia/Renault Logan. No brand is making low price car as Renault-Dacia in Europe.

It’s really a great performance for Peugeot-Citroen in Algeria. I’ve been in Tunisia in july and I saw a few 301/C-Elysee and there, the most popular car is Renault Symbol based on Clio 2 . I asked myself if the new generation of Renault Symbol is … a Logan renamed

  9. I’m french and I love your blog. I can’t imagine the passion and the incredible work it needs. You’re australian aren’t you ?

I wish you all the best Matt

  10. Congratulations Matt! 😉

One day you will be a journalist in one of the major French car magazines as L’Automobile, AutoPlus or L’Argus.
