Argentinean new car sales continue on their record run: June is up 5% year-on-year to 74,349 registrations, which means the market is up 8% on 2012 halfway through the year to deliver a new 6 month-record at 498,620 units. With a bit of luck, Argentina could become the 5th American country to pass the 1 million annual sales milestone after the USA, Brazil, Canada and Mexico. After two months away, the Chevrolet Classic reclaims the models top spot in June thanks to 2,870 sales and 3.9% share. It is the 15th time in the last 20 month the Classic tops the Argentinean sales charts and it creates a little bit of distance with the #2 in the 2013 year-to-date race at 19,870 units and 4% vs. 19,194 and 3.8% for the Peugeot 207 Compact, down to #4 this month.
The Ford Ecosport brilliantly confirms it is now a serious contender for the monthly title of best-selling vehicle in Argentina: after missing out on the top spot for just 17 units in May, it is 90 sales below the pole position this month with 2,780 sales and 3.7% and scores a 2nd #2 spot in a row after peaking out at #3 no less than 5 times in the past: in September 2010, January, February and April 2011 and February 2013… Notice also the Renault Clio Mio back up 2 spots to #5 and now #4 year-to-date, the Renault Sandero back inside the Top 10 at #9, Ford Focus II up 6 to #11, Chevrolet Prisma up 17 to #30 and the Chevrolet Onix up 8 to #31.
