Always a bit of delay for Turkish new car sales, with November data now available: up a very healthy 16% year-on-year to 52,297 registrations, which brings the year-to-date total to 475,354 units, down 6% on 2011. Big event in pole position: the VW Polo takes the lead of the Turkish market for the first time ever thanks to 2,733 sales and 5.2% share and is now #5 year-to-date at 15,833 units and 3.3%. The Fiat Linea is #2 again with 2,453 sales and 4.7% but remains in pole position year-to-date by far at 29,127 units and 6.1%. Leader last month, the Renault Fluence rounds up the podium in November with 2,283 sales and 4.4%.
But the big news this month in Turkey is the arrival of two models designed pretty much for this market, even though they are both manufactured in Spain. The Peugeot 301 lands at #16 with 839 sales and 1.6% while its twin the Citroen C-Elysee ranks #17 at 823 units and 1.6% also. Notice both model are already above the Renault Symbol up 8 ranks on October to a still shy #19, still awaiting the arrival of the new generation and making 2012 a definite annus horribilus for the model, traditionally in the Top 2 in Turkey.
