Thanks to STAC I can share with you an exclusive ranking today and for the first time on BSCB: the best-selling Station Wagons (SW) in France over the first 9 months of 2012. Renault dominates the ranking, placing the Megane Estate at #1 with 13,601 sales and a solid 27% SW ratio, down 3% year-on-year. Benefiting from the Peugeot 207 SW’s decline (-33% to #3), the Renault Clio Estate is #2 at 10,500 units, down 16% on 2011.
Nearly half the Peugeot 508 sold in France are Station Wagons
Excellent performance of the Peugeot 508 SW at #4 with 8,750 sales and 44% SW ratio. The Citroen DS5 lands at a controversial 5th place with 7,967 units: but is it really a station wagon? The VW Passat (#8) and Audi A4 (#9) impress with their SW ratios: 58% and 55%. But the Audi A6, up 128% to #11, does better at 56% SW ratio while Skoda Octavia, Skoda Superb and Toyota Avensis also shine at 50%, 66% and 64% SW ratios respectively.
2/3 of Skoda Superb sold in France are Station Wagons
Among newcomers, notice the Hyundai i40 Sport Wagon up to #29 with 712 sales and 60% SW ratio, the Chevrolet Cruze SW at 129 units and the Mercedes CLS Shooting Brake selling its very first 40 units in France in September.
