Brazil May 2012: VW Gol, Fiat Uno and Palio on podium UPDATED

The Fiat Palio seems to have plateaued at 4.6% market share

Car sales in Brazil are down 9% year-on-year in May to 274,490 units, bringing the year-to-date total to 1,291,913 registrations, down 4% on 2011. The podium is unchanged on last month and the 2012 year-to-date ranking: the VW Gol dominates with 20,937 sales and 7.6% followed by the Fiat Uno at 17,459 units and 6.4% and the Fiat Palio with 12,659 sales and 4.6% which seems to be the highest share this generation of the model is able to achieve, way below the previous generations.

Chevrolet Montana

Compared to the mid-May ranking, the Chevrolet Celta is down one spot but up 3 vs. April to #4 with 11,741 units and 4.3%. The Fiat Strada maintains itself at #6 with 3.6% share, the Renault Sandero is up 3 spots on mid-month to #9 and the Fiat Siena ranks #11 with 6,685 sales and 2.4%. Excellent month for the Chevrolet Montana reaching its best-ever end-month ranking in Brazil at #14 with 4,664 units and 1.7%.

Further down, notice the Honda CR-V up 19 spots to #34, the Chevrolet Cruze Hatchback up 44 to #57, the Toyota Hilux SW4 up 60 to #60, the VW SpaceCross up 14 to #80, the JAC J5 up 27 to #115 and the Kia Optima up 9 to #129.
