In March 17,213 new vehicles were registered in Egypt, a 41% year-on-year progression on March 2011 data influenced by the Spring revolution. The year-to-date total stands at 42,347 units, up 33% on 2011. Down to #3 last month, the Hyundai Verna, an Accent from two generations ago and the year-end Egyptian leader in 2010 and 2011, is back in pole position this month with an outstanding 3,280 sales and 19.1% market share, quite possibly its strongest month ever in the country. The Verna also reclaims the #1 spot year-to-date at 5,183 units and 12%.

Kia Soul

Leader last month, the Chevrolet TFR (aka Isuzu D-Max) is #2 in March with 1,921 sales for an excellent 11.2% share, bringing its year-to-date total to 4,146 units and 9.6%. The Chevrolet Lanos is back in shape, up 4 spots to #3 with 1,087 sales while the new generations Hyundai Accent and Elantra are #4 and #5 with 5.1% and 3.9% respectively. In the Top 10, notice the Kia Cerato up 7 ranks to #7 and the Toyota Hilux up 8 spots to #8.

ChangHe Beidouxing

Other great performers this month in Egypt include the Renault Duster at #22, Hyundai ix20 up to #23, Kia Soul up 20 ranks to #30 and VW new Jetta up 45 spots to #33. The best-selling newcomer is the ChangHe Super Panda (cool name!) at #36 with 61 sales however I couldn’t find any pictures of this car, which may in fact be the Beidouxing pictured above (many thanks to Austin for the tip).
