France 1-7 February 2012: Citroen leads, places C4 #5

The French car market is still suffering from the comparison with a start of 2011 boosted by scrappage scheme deliveries, down 28% this week at 28,200 registrations. The brands ranking is once again reshuffled, with Citroen leading at 4,922 sales (-28%) ahead of Peugeot at 4,634 units (-42%) and Renault with 3,966 sales (-14%).
Heavily promoted, the Renault Clio is the best-selling model in the country this week at 1,666 units and 5.9% share (+41%) but is the only Renault in the Top 10. The Peugeot 207 is back to its traditional 2nd place with 1,210 sales and 4.3% (-53%) and the Citroen C3 rounds up the podium at 1,101 units and 3.9%.
The VW Polo continues to deliver outstanding results, ranking 4th again this week with 1,061 sales and a brilliant 3.8% market share. The 5th place is the event of the week: the Citroen C4 leads its category at 898 units and 3.2% share, reaching the highest weekly ranking for this generation of the model. Peugeot has no less than 3 more models in the Top 10: the 308 (#6), 206+ (#7) and 3008 (#10) while Citroen also places the C4 Picasso at #9.
