Egypt January 2012: It’s Kia’s month!

12,234 new vehicles were registered in Egypt this month, down 18% on January 2011 which was the start of the revolution in the country. The Hyundai Verna, 2011’s best-seller, keeps the lead with 929 sales and 7.6% share, above 2011’s #2 the Chevrolet TFR (aka Isuzu D-Max) at 821 units and 6.7%. The new gen Hyundai Elantra rounds up the podium with 759 sales and 6.7%.

Kia Sportage

This month is Kia’s month in Egypt. The Kia Carens is up 6 spots to #4 at 505 units and 4.1%, the Sportage is up 16 ranks to #9 with 304 sales and 2.5, the new generation Picanto is up 8 spots to #12 and the new generation Rio lands directly at #34.

Hyundai Veloster

Other great performers this month include the Mitsubishi Lancer up to #5 at 441 units and 3.6%, Hyundai i10 up to #10 with 293 sales and 2.4%, Hyundai Veloster up to a fantastic 21st place at 145 units and 1.2% share, JMC Pickup up to #23 and Speranza M11 up to #25. The two models to make their very first appearance in the Egyptian ranking are Peugeots: the 508 lands at #42 with 39 sales and the 5008 is #70 at 12 units.
