China LCV October 2011: Wuling Sunshine above 60,000 units

Chinese Light Commercial Vehicle sales see a 13% year-on-year drop in October (yes the data is one month late) at 378,590 registrations, bringing the 10 months 2011 total to 4,090,332 units, down 9%. LCV are now the 2nd biggest vehicle sales category behind compact cars at 4,360,834 units (+10%).

In pole position like every month this year, the Wuling Sunshine goes against the market and increases its sales by a very impressive 16% year-on-year to reach 62,139 units, its fourth time above the 60,000 mark this year. As usual let’s compare this score to the number of VW Golfs sold all across Europe (38,076) and of Ford F-Series sold in the US and Canada over the same period (59,461) to really grasp the scale of the Sunshine figures. Year-to-date it has sold 605,351 units, down 9%.

The Wuling Rongguang/Xingwang stays #2 at 32,504 sales, up an amazing 37% on October 2010, it is #3 year-to-date at 316,646 units, up 38%. The Foton Forland is #3 again at 27,739 sales, down 14% and #2 year-to-date at 323,650 units, down 14%.
