Germany January 2011: new Passat up to #2, BMW 5 Series #5 Now with Top 200 best selling models
At 211,056 registrations, the German market is up a very healthy 16% this month. Volkswagen monopolises the podium: below the Golf at 8%, the Passat benefits from its renewal with 8,888 sales and a strong 4.2% share, and the Polo is solid at 3.5%, above its 2010 share.
Other recently renewed VWs fare extremely well: the Touran is #6 at 2.2%, the Tiguan #10 at 1.7% and the Sharan gains 22 spots at #20. The BMW 5 Series continues its amazing progression, now in 5th place with 5,278 sales and 2.5% of the German market, well ahead of the Mercedes E Class at #14.
The Nissan Qashqai is the best-selling import at #18 with 2,452 sales (1.2%), ahead of the Renault Megane at #26, the Hyundai i30 at #29 and the Dacia Duster at #31.
