Czech Republic 2005-2006: Fabia, Octavia and Thalia on podium
The Skoda Fabia tops the Czech charts in 2005 and 2006

New car sales in the Czech Republic amount to 127.376 in 2005 and drop -2.7% in 2006 to 123.987. In 2005, Skoda holds 44.5% of the market above Renault at 7.2% and Volkswagen at 5.4%. Hyundai, Ford, Peugeot and Citroen follow. In 2006, Skoda (-8.7%) is down to 41.8% share, Renault to 6.2% but Volkswagen is up to 5.7% ahead of Hyundai. Peugeot overtakes Ford and Citroen remains at #7.
The Czech best selling models chart is very stable in 2005 and 2006 with the same Top 4. The Skoda Fabia enjoys its 6th and 7th consecutive years at #1, holding 28.5% of the market in 2005 and 26.5% in 2006, still very imposing scores even though the small Skoda continues to lose share each year.
The Skoda Octavia is also still very strong at #2 at 13.7% share in 2005 and 11.8% in 2006, Skoda’s two best-sellers taking 38-42% of the Czech market. The rest of the charts is very fragmented, with only 4 models at 2%+ share in 2005 and just 2 in 2006. The Renault Thalia (a Clio Sedan) takes the lead among imports at 2.9% in 2005 and 2.2% in 2006, followed by the Hyundai Getz, 4th both years. The Peugeot 206 slides down to 5th in 2005 and 6th in 2006 whereas the Dacia Logan delivers an impressive 6th position in 2005 for its first full year of sales in the country. Notice also the 10th position of the Skoda Roomster in 2006.
