The Toyota Hilux is the best-selling vehicle in Thailand in 2002.
New vehicle sales in Thailand continue to gallop ahead with a 4th straight double-digit gain in 2002 at +38.2% sending the market above the 400.000 unit milestone for the first time since 1996 at 402.224. Toyota (+55.8%) frankly outpaces the market to 32.3% share, distancing Isuzu (+31.6%), Honda (+39.8%), Nissan (+27.9%) and Mitsubishi (+35.4%) all behaving roughly in line with overall sales. Chevrolet (+66.1%) posts the largest gain in the Top 10 but remains at #10. In the models ranking, the Toyota Hilux (+78.9%) benefits from both a significant facelift and a nameplate transition at Isuzu to take the overall lead for the first time since 1995. The Isuzu D-Max lands directly at #2 with 12.4% share while the Faster Z (-49.5%) dives to #4 just below the Nissan Big M (+49.2%) with the Mitsubishi L200 (+29.2%) ensuring the Top 5 is solely composed of pickups for the 2nd time in the past 3 years. The Toyota Corolla (+20.8%) remains the most popular car but drops 3 spots to #6. The Honda CR-V (+369%) is up 10 ranks on 2001 to #8.
