Mauritius Full Year 2017: Nissan leads, Kia up 81% in record market

New car sales in Mauritius jump 21% year-on-year in 2017 to 11.151 units, a new all-time record and the first time above 10.000 annual units, eclipsing the previous best of 9.423 established back in 2012. Nissan (+5%) and Toyota (+14%) remain the most popular carmakers in the country but frankly trail the overall growth resulting in market shares reduced to 15.2% and 14.2% respectively. Reversely the two Koreans Kia (+81%) and Hyundai (+33%) surge ahead and exchange positions vs. 2016 to #3 and #4. BMW is once again the best-selling premium brand at a stunning 5th place, with Mercedes (+20%) at #9 and Audi (+13%) at #12. Honda (+62%), Suzuki (+59%) and Mitsubishi (+30%) also outpace the market in the Top 10 while further down Volkswagen (+123%), Fiat (+95%), Range Rover (+80%), Perodua (+44%) and Peugeot (+37%) make themselves noticed.
