The Indonesian new car market is up 6% year-on-year in May to 94.123 registrations. The Toyota Avanza is once again the best-selling nameplate in the country, doing so despite a harsh 34% year-on-year decline to just 8.865 registrations and 9.4% share, a rare drop below the 10% mark. Reversely, the Toyota Kijang Innova is still enjoying the benefits of its recent facelift to gain 23% and return to the 2nd spot. The victim: the Toyota Calya, which led the Indonesian market for three months in 2016 and whose honeymoon period with local buyers has now ended. The Honda Brio Satya (+259%) continues to stun and leads the passenger car category again this month ahead of the Toyota Agya in 5th place overall (-17%). Notice also the Daihatsu Gran Max Pikap 64% and the Suzuki Ertiga up 41%.
