Iraq Full Year 2016: Kia Frontier and Sportage outsell Toyota Hilux
The Kia Sportage climbs to 2nd spot overall in Iraq in 2016.

Car sales in Iraq continue to struggle: after a 44% drop in 2015, the market falls a further 48% in 2016 to just 28.788 registrations. Market leader Kia roughly follows the market at -51% to a gargantuan 39.4% share vs. 41.6% a year ago, followed by Toyota at 21.6% (-41%), Hyundai at 15.8% (-56%) and Nissan at 11.3% (-30%). Chevrolet (-56%) and Ford (-21%) also see their ranking unchanged and are the only other brands commanding over 1% market share. Among smaller-volume brands, only BMW (+26%) and Volkswagen (+273%) post positive results.
The Nissan D22 is back inside the Iraqi Top 10.
The Kia Frontier remains the best-selling nameplate in the country for the third year in a row with sales down 41% improving its share to 19.5%, making Iraq only the second market worldwide to crown this pickup alongside Syria. The Kia Sportage gains two spots to #2 thanks to deliveries down just 32% to 7.6% share, knocking the Toyota Hilux down to #3. The Toyota Land Cruiser is up four spots to #4, the Nissan D22 Pickup reappears in the ranking at #8, the Nissan Sunny is up 25% to #13, the Chevrolet Cruze up 221% to #14, the Toyota Land Cruiser Pickup up 14% to #15, the Chevrolet Tahoe up 279% to #20 and the Hyundai Creta up 440% to #27.
