Luxembourg Full Year 2016: VW Golf leads, BMW X1 up to 4th place

New car sales in Luxembourg are up 8.8% year-on-year in 2016 to 50.561 registrations. Volkswagen remains the most popular carmaker in the country despite sales down 1% to 5.775 and is followed like in 2015 by BMW at 10.6% (-2%). Mercedes jumps up two spots on last year thanks to volumes soaring 23% to 4.673, overtaking Renault (+17%) and Audi (-2%). Ford (+15%), Opel (+12%), Skoda (+13%) and Hyundai (+33%) also outpace the market inside the Top 10. Model-wise, if the VW Golf unsurprisingly remains the #1 vehicle in the country this year despite a 19% drop, the rest of the Top 10 is completely reshuffled. The Renault Clio (+47%) replaces the Scénic (-7%) in 2nd place above the Audi A3, the BMW X1 is up 6-fold on ts 2015 score and leaps to 4th place overall thanks to the new model, the VW Tiguan soars 81% to 7, the Audi A4 is up 68% to #9 and the Mercedes A-Class returns among the country’s ten favourite nameplates thanks to deliveries up 15%.
