Greece August 2016: Toyota places 3 nameplates in Top 4

The Greek new car market slips down 7% year-on-year in August to just 4.174 registrations, yet the year-to-date tally is up 10.5% to 58.621 units. Toyota goes against the grain with a 19% year-on-year gain to 699 sales and 16.7% share, distancing Opel at 8.2% (+10%), Volkswagen at 7.2% (+6%) and Nissan at 7% (+46%). Mercedes slips down 9% to #5, but Fiat gains 30% to #7. Hyundai (-22%), Citroen (-23%), BMW (-34%) and Renault (-50%) are the main culprits of the market decrease this month. The Toyota Yaris remains the best-selling vehicle in the country despite deliveries down 6% to 377 ahead of the Opel Corsa down 19% to 163. The Toyota Auris (+202%) and Aygo (+43%) make it 3 Toyotas in the Top 4. Other impressive gainers include the Opel Astra (+68%), Nissan Micra (+271%) and BMW X1 (+436%)
