Chile August 2016: Hyundai overtakes Kia and takes charge

Hyundai is now the #1 brand in Chile so far in 2016.

New light vehicle sales in Chile gain a minimalistic 0.7% year-on-year in August to 24.544 units, meaning the year-to-date tally remains in positive territory at +5.7% to 187.219. Hyundai is the hero of the month in China: thanks to deliveries shooting up 24% on August 2015 to 2.982, the Korean manufacturer overtakes sister-brand Kia to take the lead of the year-to-date brands ranking at 18.505 sales after 8 months (+15%) vs. 18.214 for Kia. Chevrolet (-7%), Suzuki (-8%), Nissan (-9%) and Toyota (+5%) follow, while just below Mazda (+23%) and Peugeot (+32%) impress. JAC (+19%) leads Chinese manufacturers at #15 just above the Great Wall Group (Great Wall+Haval) at #16, Changan at #21, Chery at #23 and Dongfeng at #25.
