Argentina August 2016: Renault takes charge in market up 39%

New vehicle sales in Argentina are up a stunning 39% year-on-year in August to 69.805 units, lifting the year-to-date tally up a solid 10% to 464.265. For the second time in the past three months – and this year – Renault is the most popular manufacturer in the country with deliveries stepping up frankly at +64% to 10.987 and 15.7% share, riding on the success of the Clio Mio (#3), Sandero (#7), Kangoo (#11), Duster (#21), Logan (#23) and Duster Oroch (#25). Renault edges past Volkswagen (+10%) at 10.498 sales and 15% share, with the facelifted Gol taking the lead of the models ranking with 2.847 sales, ending 4 consecutive months of reign by the Toyota Hilux.
The facelifted VW Gol ends four consecutive months of Toyota Hilux domination.
Chevrolet (+28%) takes the third spot of the brands ranking: the Onix (+73%) and Prisma (+75%) continue to progressively replace the once dominant Classic (-50%). Ford (+22%) places three nameplates inside the Top 10: the Focus (#6), Ranger (#9) and Fiesta (#10). Fiat (+38%) evolves like the market and sees the Palio climb up 55% just as the Toro (#35) overtakes the Strada (#36) and the Mobi breaks into the Top 50 at #46. Toyota (+26%) has the Hilux at #2 and the Etios at #5. Peugeot surges 123% to #7 and 9% share, Citroen is up 55% to #8, Nissan up 88% to #11, while further down Volvo (+98%), Audi (+175%), BMW (+631%) and Jeep (+1832%) all post extravagant gains. Chery (#14) is not the only Chinese brand in the Argentinean Top 25 anymore: Lifan is up to #23 this month with 52 units.
