A little dent in the record-breaking pace the Danish new car market had got us used to in the past five years: sales are down 3% year-on-year in July to 15.726 but the year-to-date tally is still up 9% to a record 132.579 units after 7 months. Despite sales down 16% year-on-year, French carmaker Peugeot gains two spots on June to snap the brands pole position with 1.722 sales and 11% share, distancing Volkswagen (10.4%) and Toyota (7.7%) while Opel surges 34% to #4 and 7.5%. Notice also Seat up 52% to #9, Mercedes up 47% to #10, Dacia up 48% to #18 and Volvo up 44% to #19. Model-wise, Peugeot now trusts the Top 2 spots both in July and year-to-date with the 208 at 4.7% and the 308 at 3.9% even though these two nameplates lose significant ground vs. July 2015. The VW Polo is up 38% to #3, ahead of the Kia Picanto (-20%) and Opel Astra (+564%). The VW Passat (+66%) and Golf (+60%) compensate a hellish month by the once-uncontested leader the VW Up, down 77% to #37.
