Poland April 2016: Skoda dominates, Dacia, Kia shine in market up 44%

There’s no stopping Polish new car sales in 2016: April volumes are up a mammoth 22% year-on-year to 39.788 units, lifting the year-to-date total up 16% to 158.417 including light commercial vehicles. Skoda (+21%) reclaims the brands top spot it traditionally holds with 11.6% share, distancing Toyota at 9.2% (+19%) and Volkswagen at 8.6% (+22%). Within the Top 15 brands, Renault (+34%), Dacia (+57%), Kia (+42%), Hyundai (+30%) and Mercedes (+41%) even manage to outpace the galloping market. The models sales charts also return to its more traditional self after the VW Golf took the lead in March: the Skoda Octavia is the most popular at 3.5% share above the Skoda Fabia (3.2%), Opel Astra (2.8%) and Toyota Auris (2.8%) with the VW Golf down to #5. The Dacia Duster is up a flamboyant 84% to 7th overall, the Skoda Superb is up 87% to #13, the Toyota RAV4 up 89% to #18 and the Seat Ibiza up 88% to #19.
