New Zealand March 2016: Ford Ranger and Mitsubishi Triton shine
Mitsubishi Triton sales are up 61% year-on-year in New Zealand this month.

Nothing can stop new car sales in New Zealand, up a further 3% in March to 12.110 registrations – the best March on record – lifting the year-to-date total up 3% also to 34.284 units, a new quarterly record. In the brands ranking, Toyota follows the market with volumes up 3% to 15.3% share ahead of Ford up 16% to 10.4% of the market. Mitsubishi surprises everyone by gaining three spots on February to land on the podium at #3 with 1.029 sales and 8.5% share, distancing Mazda (8%) and Holden down a devastating 23% to just 892 sales and 7.4% share. Suzuki (+23%), Kia (+33%), Mercedes (+24%) and BMW (+21%) also post very strong results. The Ford Ranger continues to reign supreme on the models ranking with deliveries up a whopping 29% year-on-year to 661, staying well ahead of its archenemy the Toyota Hilux, up 10% to 601. For the 2nd month running, the Mitsubishi Triton rounds up a podium 100% pickup with sales up 61% to 462 and 3.8% share. Notice also the Suzuki Swift at #4, the Kia Sportage at #11, Hyundai Tucson at #16 and Suzuki Vitara at #17.
