The Jordanian new car market is feeling a little shaky in 2015: down 11% to 61.727 registrations. Following the exact same pattern as in Lebanon, Korean carmakers Hyundai and Kia are falling out of fashion (both are down 32%) fast whereas Toyota (+40%) and Mitsubishi (+119%) take off. Hyundai still leads the market by far with 21.268 sales but its (still very imposing) 34.5% share pales in comparison with the 45.1% it commended just a year ago. Toyota goes from 14.1% penetration in 2014 to 22.2% and Kia drops from 24.2% to 18.6% while Mitsubishi shoots up from 4.4% to 10.9%. Some very significant structural changes at play here. Notice also Lexus up 70% and 5 spots to #6, Mazda up 20%, BMW up 28%, Land Rover up 53%, Suzuki up 112% and Honda up 143%.

Toyota Land Cruiser Jordan 2015The Toyota Land Cruiser surges up 141% to #5.

The Hyundai supremacy still presides over the top of the models ranking, but 2015 could be the last time it does so. Leader in 2014, the Elantra loses over half its sales (-51%) to drop to 2nd place at 5.215 deliveries while the Accent edges past to #1 thanks to volumes up 23% to 5.711 and 9.3% share. The Japanese herd is catching up fast: the Mitsubishi Lancer EX is up 240% to #3 – reiterating a similar performance across the Middle-Eastern region and instantly becoming a blockbuster here, the Toyota Hilux up 25% to #4 and the Land Cruiser up 141% to #5. The Toyota Land Cruiser Pickup (+417%), Hyundai Starex (+172%), Nissan Patrol (+100%) and Mitsubishi Pajero (+110%) also shine.
