Greece September 2015: Mercedes best-selling carmaker

Surprise: the Mercedes A-Class is the best-selling vehicle in Greece in September.

The Grexit crisis is all just a bad memory by now: Greek new car sales are in positive again in September at +1% to 5.125 registrations, lifting the year-to-date total up 8% to 58.184 units. Surprise atop the brands ranking: Mercedes flamboyantly takes the lead thanks to sales up almost 3-fold on September 2014 to 544 units for a gigantic 10.6% market share. Volkswagen is back up 3 spots to #2 (9.8%), followed by Toyota (-19%), Opel (-22%) and Nissan (+22%). Notice also Peugeot (+74%), BMW (+23%), Suzuki (+38%) and Audi (+20%) lodging impressive year-on-year gains. The models ranking reflects this surprising development, with the Mercedes A-Class outselling all other nameplates in Greece this month with a gargantuan 279 sales and 5.4% share, up 5-fold on a year ago and distancing traditional leaders the Opel Corsa (-27%) and Toyota Yaris (+27%).
