Danish new car sales don’t slow down in August: up 11% year-on-year to a record 16.162 registrations, lifting the year-to-date total to an all-time high 137.351 units after 8 months, up 8% on the previous record in 2014. Peugeot is the most popular carmaker for the 2nd month running with 1,884 sales and 11.7%, distancing Volkswagen the traditional #1 at 1.693 and 10.5% with Toyota rounding up the podium at 7.7%. Opel is up to #4 vs. #10 year-to-date, Suzuki up to #9, BMW up to #10 vs. #15 and Tesla up to #22. Model-wise, the Peugeot 208 manages the very rare feat of outselling the VW Up twice in a row with 681 units and 4.2% vs. 643 and 4% above the Peugeot 308 at 607 and 3.8%. But the big news in the Danish sales charts in August is the record 4th place of the Opel Karl with 493 sales and 4.1% share. Denmark being the kingdom of minicar, if there was one country where the Karl was expected to succeed, it’s here, but Opel must still congratulate itself for having hit the mark. The BMW i3 is the other great performer of the month, shooting up 122 spots on July to an outstanding 8th position with 407 sales, compared to 100 deliveries over the first 7 months of the year…
