Vietnam May 2015: Ford Ranger up to 2nd place in market up 48%

The Vietnamese new car market continues on its sky high rise in 2015 with sales up a gargantuan 48% year-on-year in May to 17.921 units, bringing the year-to-date total to 84.806 registrations, up an even more impressive 59% on 2014. Brand-wise, Thaco-Kia distances itself from Toyota thanks to 5.238 units and 29.3% including medium-heavy commercials vs. 3.880 and 21.7% for the Japanese manufacturer. Ford (9.7%), Mazda (7.3%) and Honda (3.6%) follow. Model-wise, while the Toyota Vios holds onto the pole position it also claims year-to-date with 865 sales and 4.8% share (5.127 and 6% so far in 2015), this month the Ford Ranger surprises everyone and leaps past the Toyota Fortuner and Innova to a record-breaking 2nd place overall thanks to 818 units sold for a 4.6%. Notice also the Toyota Camry up 6 spots to #7, the Mazda BT-50 up two ranks to #9 and the Mazda CX-5 solid at #10.
