The Kazakh new car market continues to crumble down at -25% in May to 9.781 registrations, bringing the year-to-date total to 44.744 units, down a harsh 28% on 2014. Russian manufacturer Lada remains the most popular in Kazakhstan however with 24.6% share it is way below its year-to-date level (33.2%) yet still above its share at home in Russia (18.2%). Korean carmakers Kia (15.7%) and Hyundai (13.5%) have a bumper month and place the Rio in pole position overall and the Accent at #2. This is the first time since BSCB started following Kazakhstan monthly (two years ago) that a Lada is not #1, in this aspect following the same trend as Russia where the Rio and Solaris (aka Accent) have started beating Ladas on their home turf.
Renault is down one spot on April to #4 but is evolving almost two percentage points share above its year-to-date level at 8.7%, Skoda shoots up 6 ranks to #6, Nissan is up 9 spots to #9, Geely down one to #12 and Infiniti back up 10 to #20. Over on the models ranking, 3 Ladas follow the two leaders: the Granta, Largus and Priora – reflecting their order year-to-date, the Hyundai Elantra is up 6 ranks to #7, the Lada 4×4 up two to #8, Skoda Rapid up 13 to #9, Kia Cerato up 18 to #17 and the Kia Sorento up 11 to #18.
